| 23/11/11 | Unsurprisingly it was a busy day yesterday with the End of an Era as the Dalesend herd was dispersed. While now tidying up and sorting animals for their new owners is the order of the day. Things went incredibly smoothly and this was a true reflection on the teamwork and dedication provided by a massive team of helpers who did a fantastic job, we are very grateful to everyone for their tireless help yesterday, the stock we are told looked well and their behavior was impeccable considering the upheaval they have had. Finally thanks and good luck to everyone who attended the sale. To those who tried to buy and failed thank you for trying and to those who have bought a Dalesend animal the very best of luck with your purchases and future breeding. It's the End of an Era and we thank everyone who made it go with a bang! |

| 19/11/11 | With such good teamwork things are currently going to plan and the good weather helps. In calf heifers were brought in this morning, washed and turned back out. Another 31 yearling age heifers were brought back to the main farm and also washed. Tomorrow it will be onto washing milk cows. In the yearlings there were a number of promising heifers including the red Talent x Baxter Maude and the Mr Sam x Roxy Amanda. Alex Wilkes, Sarah Jarvis and Stuart Clapham have worked tirelessly for the last few weeks preparing cattle and clipping together with Richard Pratt and their help up to now with Jane and Calum has been invaluable, teamwork prevails ! |
| 18/11/11 | Yesterday was a glorious day, blue skies, dry and warm so that and better until Tuesday would be good ! Car parking will be in a field to the left at the top of the drive as you arrive at the farm, it's a relatively dry field but we are in November. Jane Arrell and Calum Telfer joined the team preparing things today, with many more helpers joining us over the next few days and we are indebted to everyone who has given up time and taken time off their proper jobs to help and support us. The back cover girls of the catalogue have were clipped yesterday - Jane and Calum both admired the Douglas Kim calf and Jane who has not seen MM Spottie since the GYS in the Summer commented on how much she has developed since as she walked past to milk yesterday afternoon. Otherwise final halter breaking and tying up has been the order of the last couple of days as well as pressure washing and tidying up the place. The calves born in the last four months are walking well and there are a lot of nice calves among them, many of which will be show age for 2012. Those that stand out include Niagra Rosina (lot 34A), Talent Maude 2 (lot 141A), Marigold 190 (lot 153A), Marigold 187 (lot 129A), MS Echo 2 (lot 72A) and the two Seavers x Linjet Maude 2 (lots 257 and 258). Today we are starting washing cows. |

|
| 15/11/11 | With the sale a week today preparations are well underway, yesterday was another day of tying up youngstock so they are used to halters, although time hasn't allowed most of them to be halter trained they will be tied in lot up for easier viewing in their respective age groups.
